“Last night on 60 Minutes we saw President Trump double down on the policy of separating immigrant children from their parents at the southern border. And once he saw how that was playing out he decided against it. Looking at the midterm elections on November 6th we see Democrats and Independents, suburban moms, young voters, saying that ‘we don’t want children being separated from their parents at the southern border – we need to figure out a holistic fix to this situation.’”
“Since the Supreme Court overturned parts of the Voting Rights Act we have seen secretaries of state across the country do things to suppress the vote, we have seen legitimate voters being taken off the rolls in states so that when folks show up to the polling booth they are not allowed to vote – that’s a real problem. On the world’s stage everyone looks up to America as this wonderful democracy and we need to be that democracy.”
“Tech employees, just like every other American, have the ability to contribute to the campaign, the candidate, the cause of their choice and they’ve decided to do that. I’m not concerned about individual giving in the election, what I am really concerned about is the corporations, the special interests, the big money that are flooding our elections. We are seeing undisclosed amounts – millions and millions – going to super PACs and other funds where everyday Americans are having their voices drowned out – that’s the real issue that we should be focusing on.”
“In a blanket statement folks say ‘yeah, we don’t want politics in our brands,’ but when it comes to market research and specific consumers, brands know what their customers want. We saw that with Nike, after they came out in support of Kaepernick their sales went up. So we’ve seen a lot of brands talk about what their consumers want and we’ve seen with the millennial audience they want their brands to be socially responsible and inclusive, and millennial have increasing buying power.”
"We saw Democrats win over 40 seats in the midterm elections so we've seen a wave like we haven't seen since Watergate. That was Democrats, Independents, and Republicans coming to the polls and rejecting Republican policies and the president's tone. It was a harsh rebuke. We saw places that we haven't won in quite some time - we won seats in Oklahoma, we won seats in Nevada, we won seats across the country - and that's because folks don't like the president's rhetoric, his policies, or his tone."
"President Trump's tone has already impacted elections - like I said the historic turnout that we have seen has flipped seats in places like Oklahoma and Kansas - and we're gonna see Trump's tone affect these elections even more. Folks don't want to see children separated from their parents at the southern border or out of control gun violence across the country, especially in places of worship. Folks are angry and they came out to vote this election day and we're gonna see that in 2020.
